It is with sadness that we mourn the passing of a well-known and
longtime town resident, Ursula Hoppenheit.

Ursula was born in Schweibus, Germany on April 1, 1930, to Fritz and
Louise Hoppenheit. In her early years, Ursula apprenticed as a horticulturist
in Germany and Switzerland, and worked in the field before finally coming
to Canada in 1958. She continued to pursue her passion for all things
green and branched out into other ventures, including horses and small
livestock.

In 1968, she came to Okotoks and bought the Koffee Kup restaurant and
grocery store which she operated until she sold it in 1976. After retiring
from her store, Ursula become very active in community organizations,
including the PC Riding Association, the Canadian Cancer Society and the
Red Cross. Her commitment to serving her community moved to her to
serve as a town councillor in Okotoks in the mid -1990’s.

She will be missed by her family, sister Gudrun Hicks of Okotoks, and
several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Special thanks to the staff of Season’s in High River for their care and
attention of Ursula in her last days.

Funeral will be held at the Okotoks United Church on Saturday, March 23
at 2:00 pm.
