Vance Billey, a beloved figure known for his prowess in salesmanship, his passion for sports, and his unwavering commitment to coaching and mentoring, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 81. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for sports will continue to inspire generations to come.

Born in 1942, Vance’s life was marked by remarkable achievements and a deep-rooted love for athletics. Vance’s passion for sports was evident from a young age. A talented baseball player, he was known for his power at the plate. Though a professional career in baseball never materialized, his love for the sport remained unwavering throughout his life.

Beyond his own athletic pursuits,Vance dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring others, particularly in women’s softball. His coaching prowess was legendary, and his impact on the sport was profound. His dedication to his players, his leadership on the field, and his unwavering commitment to excellence earned him a well-deserved place in the Hall of Fame.

In addition to coaching, Vance also served as a respected referee in hockey, where his fairness, integrity, and love for the game left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether he was on the field, the court, or the rink, Vance’s presence was a source of inspiration and encouragement to all who crossed his path.

Outside of sports, Vance was an avid golfer, finding solace and joy on the greens. His love for golf was a reflection of his appreciation for competition, camaraderie, and the beauty of the game.

His career began in the world of sales, where he quickly rose to become a top salesman in the flooring industry. His exceptional work ethic, coupled with his innate charm, allowed him to excel in his profession and earn the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Vance will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and his unwavering passion for life. He touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration.

Vance Billey leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife Patsy (Skoreyko) Billey, daughter Sandi Crawford, granddaughter Sydni Crawford, Brothers Richard & Ron, and a host of relatives, friends, and admirers who will cherish his memory forever. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Vance’s life will be held on March 9th 11:30am at Okotoks Alliance Church. Lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation in Vance’s honor.
