The Olde Towne Okotoks Show and Shine will take place this Sunday in downtown Okotoks. The Roaring 20s theme will have us all bobbing to the music.
Organizers are hoping for the largest turnout of vehicles ever. I’m told we can expect some military vehicles as well. There will also be a Quilt Stroll through Olde Towne Okotoks. For your added enjoyment there will be three live bands playing at different locations on the main street. A Beatles tribute band will be performing in the Olde Towne Okotoks Plaza. At The Royal Duke check out our very own Darren Johnson and friends and further west across from the west end of the Okotoks Square you will find a beer gardens featuring the band Black Light. This event will be hosted by the Foothills Highland Games committee. Lots of food, cars, quilts, music etc. See you there!

Well, we all know by now the Okotoks Dawgs took an early exit from the playoffs. The killer instinct of other teams in the past just did not seem to be there this season. Too bad as I am convinced the talent was there but for some reason the desire was lacking at times. Knowing the ownership of the Dawgs organization I can guarantee you we will see more entertaining ball next season. Anyway, thanks for the season and let's hope for a killer team next year and better weather in June.

The weather was fantastic for the long weekend. I thought I would be smart and do a day trip to the mountains on Sunday. I thought everyone would be settled in where they went. Man the traffic was crazy busy. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to live an hour and a half to the best scenery in the world. Even with bad traffic and a Folk Festival in Canmore we had a great day. I’m told coming home Monday night from the mountains was almost impossible. Stop and go traffic through the Rogers Pass area and others. Not fun!

The Calgary Stampeders have had a week off to lick their wounds and head to Hamilton to take on Henry Burris and the Ticats this Thursday. They could really use a win against their old quarterback and we won't have to wait very long to find out.

Funny last week I said how the Canadians suck at the Olympics and then before the paper was printed we had won four medals! Did you see the women’s soccer against the USA? I was really proud of the way they played that game. We get a chance at the bronze medal on Thursday.
