Stepping into the 45th Parliament feels surreal.
I am incredibly honoured to serve as the Member of Parliament for Foothills, to be your voice in the House of Commons. This is a profound commitment I do not take for granted; I will continue to work every day to earn the vote which was entrusted to my name.
It is a privilege to be appointed by Pierre Poilievre to once again serve as shadow minister for agriculture and agri-food. Agriculture is an integral part of who we are as Albertans and Canadians, and I have embraced this opportunity to represent farmers, ranchers and agri-businesses here in Foothills and across the country.
I, like so many of you, was ready for a change in government, ready to make a positive difference for Canadians who are struggling, and provide hope for the industries which deserve better than devastating Liberal policies that crushed Canadian productivity and our economic growth.
The blue wave for change resulted in Conservatives winning seats in areas we have not won before and gained ground right across Canada. The collapse on the left this election shifted the win to Liberals despite Conservatives earning the most votes in their history. I stand with Poilievre and we will remain true to our values, our core beliefs and the policies the Conservative Party of Canada were built on.
As Conservatives, we will hold the Liberal government to account while at the same time show Canadians there is an alternative, there is hope, there is a team focused on restoring the Canadian dream. It means speaking to Canadians about our Conservative vision for a more prosperous Canada where you earn a powerful paycheque, with homes you can afford in safe, drug-free communities.
While this election wasn't the outcome we hoped for, or fought for, it is not the end. It's an opportunity to learn, to adjust and come back stronger, grounded in true conservative values and connected to the real lives Canadians are living.
I know beyond the shadow of a doubt we are the team to bring the positive change Canadians are demanding. I will hold strong with my colleagues promoting the values and virtues we stand for and defend what is right for our country. A new dawn will the horizon soon bring, and I will not rest until the day has risen.
That's a Canadian dream worth fighting for.
