Saturday Market moves indoors

First Saturdays will be hosting a Christmas Market on Nov. 3 all day in the Foothills Community Centre. The Market Square Xmas on Saturday will feature some art students creating our town in art! See the creation of old Okotoks in a large scale 3D relief floor model made out of nothing but recycled materials and add your own creative elements with fields, trees, hills, rivers and mountains all made out of food bank items that you add to the sculpture any way you like!

Bring your own donations to the Food Bank and add it to the artwork. Just think - Fields out of rows and rows of pasta, mountains of canned goods...and all going to a much-needed local cause.

The Falcons lost their football game on Friday against Rundle College, but have not lost the war. This weekend they will face off against Springbank in Calgary in the Provincial semi-finals. Should be a good one. Let's cheer them on.

Funny thing happened to me on Saturday night at the Hospice Hollywood Gala. People kept saying they were disappointed I was not dressed as PeeWee Herman. I guess I did say that in my column last week, but just couldn't find the outfit. What a great night it was. Another very successful fundraising event for the Foothills Country Hospice. Congratulations to all the volunteers who worked hard to put on a first class evening like we have grown accustomed to expect.

Well the baseball season is over, football is nearing an end and no NHL hockey in sight. My TV broke the other day and I am not sure I will fix it! Season ticket holders paid in advance for an 82 game hockey season. If the owners and the league cannot give the fans what they paid for then they should return their money in full right now! That's the way business works for the rest of us. I for one am tired of hearing about it. Maybe if the players made a realistic salary and the owners made a five per cent return on their money everyone would be more interested in getting to work. I don't imagine too many hockey players are considering a trip to the food bank!

To the owners and players all I can say is grow up and get real.
