LETTER: Be courteous and move bins out of sight

Moving bins into garage or to the side of the house is the neighbourly thing to do.

Dear Editor,

Why do people leave their recycle receptacles in front of their house?

I live on a long street that at least one-third of the houses present their three garbage carts in front of their house. In my area, these houses all have a two-car garage and sometimes a three-car garage, but still insist on leaving these receptacles in full view year in and year out. It is such an unsightly, inconsiderate thing to do.

If you are selling your house, then good luck to you. Who wants to buy a house with such messy people living next door?

Please, please, store your garbage cans at least on the side of your house if you can't get it into your garage or if you don't have a garage. It is just plain sense and courtesy to the neighbours on your street.

I know there are numerous cities that don't allow this practice, but Okotoks has yet to make it a bylaw. It is just an old-fashioned common courtesy.
