Dear Editor,
OK, I can somehow make myself go along with a four-plus per cent increase in our property taxes but when you throw in a huge increase in natural gas franchise fees, I go off the grid with red.
It is just another way to rob the residents for a further million without calling it a tax increase.
Can we please stop for a minute and contemplate ways to cut the overall cost to taxpayers. Surely there are small ways to cut costs.
There are many services that we go over the top to present as they make the town look good. How about cutting some services and allowing residents to adopt a park, etc.
Anyway, high taxes are not the answer to a strong vibrant community long term. I ask council to take another look at what it is expecting us to swallow in the next year.
