Just in time — as the NFL season will soon be over and it is a bit early for baseball — the NHL hockey season is about to begin.
We all say we don’t care anymore but let’s face it, when the puck drops I’II bet all hockey fans will at least watch it on TV. I’m sure some of the advertising dollars have gone elsewhere but the average fan will be watching. Also, the season ticket holders will be back in their seats because once they are playing for real it will cost the ticket holders a lot of money to continue their boycott. It may be a couple months before we absolutely forgive and forget but we will.
I can hardly wait to watch the Edmonton Oilers as they have a lot of young talent on their team. I’m picking them to win the Northwest Division.

This is probably your last reminder of the Robbie Burns Night to be held on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Elks Hall, downtown Okotoks. The reason is the Rotary Pub Club is down to about 30 tickets left. It promises to be an experience you will not soon forget. Pipers, dancers, haggis and scotch. Not to forget an opportunity to dance the night away with the Celtic band Fraid Knot. This Sunday you can take in a performance by some members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre. This is part of the Okotoks Arts Council’s winter concert series. For tickets call 403-938-3204.
Also on Sunday is a Beneath the Arch concert series event at the Flare ‘n’ Derrick in Turner Valley. Come and hear some classical music performed by the Looking Glass Duo.
