The Okotoks Dawgs have made the playoffs and begin their journey towards a championship ring in Medicine Hat. It is the best of five series with Games 1 and 2 in Medicine Hat on Tuesday and Wednesday. First home playoff game will be on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 7:05 p.m. I have a good feeling about this round. Watch for the Dawgs to take the series in five games.

Well the Olympics are moving along at a pretty good pace and Canada continues to be a poor performer when it comes to international competition. We just don’t seem to have the program in place to get the most out of our athletes.

Oh well, it is not whether you win or lose but how you play the game.

Talking about how you play the game I don’t understand why they cannot eliminate doping from the Olympics. They need to make the penalty enough that these people stop. We spend millions trying to catch the ones who cheat. It’s to the point they now accuse them of doping without proof if they win by too large a margin. If I trained for four years and won a gold medal and the media accused me of doping I would sue the entire Olympic movement. You cannot publicly accuse an athlete of cheating without proof.

To get this nonsense out of the Olympics why don’t they send an entire country home if one of their athletes fails a drug test. Also take away every medal they may have won up to that point. That would clean it up for once and for all. This weekend is the Annual "Big Valley Jamboree" in Carouse. For the first time in their 20 year history the organizers expect to sell out. Which means 90,000 people over the weekend. There are individual day passes available at the gate but the 3 day passes are sold out. Not sure what the formula is but they have certainly been successful over the years. Their biggest concern always seems to be the weather in central Alberta this time of the year.
