Time for pay no more protest

I’ve got a great idea. We have seen that it is legal to set up a protest group in this country pretty well where ever you want. For example, Idle No More and Occupy Calgary.

I’ve got a great idea. We have seen that it is legal to set up a protest group in this country pretty well where ever you want. For example, Idle No More and Occupy Calgary.

We have governments who are having trouble balancing their budgets and guess what, it is the shareholders (you and I) who have to pay more and pick up the pieces.

I get upset when my budget is out a couple grand. I can’t imagine how you can be out a few billion. Since the day the last provincial budget was set, almost everyone knew it was not obtainable.

Our system doesn’t allow us to fire the leaders so let’s set up human road blocks on Highway 1 and quit paying taxes until we get balanced budgets that are obtainable.

It seems insane to me we would just keep dumping our hard earned money into a system that is not working. It scares me to even think what will happen if the economy tanks.

Being Canadian and not wanting to rock the boat, let’s just wait until spring and see what happens.

At least then if we do protest we can get a tan doing it.

I read with interest the High River town council has stepped in and cancelled High River student’s participation in an organized “Mall Crawl.”

The plan was to take a bus load of 12 to 17 year olds from High River and Okotoks to Chinook Mall in Calgary for a day of shopping on Jan. 25, a school PD day. It was suggested if you didn’t want to shop you could go to a show.

Both communities spend tens of thousands of dollars promoting shopping at home and then are willing to throw it all away by actually organizing trips to the city to show our youth what they are missing?

It will be interesting to see if Okotoks follows High River’s lead. It was an outcry from small business owners in High River who had it stopped there.

Another reminder to call 262 DAWG for tickets to the upcoming Okotoks Dawgs banquet on Feb. 2.

I’m told the Robbie Burns night this Saturday is pretty much sold out. Congrats to the Rotary Pub Club for organizing this event. Proceeds will be donated to the Westmount School for the playground equipment that is needed. Check out Friday’s The Weekend for a feature on “Rabbie”. Call me a wimp but haggis will not touch my lips. See you there.
