Lat weeks’ Western Wheel had some awesome articles: A Sarcastic Look at Smoking was not only hilarious bur sadly, all too true. And the article on our beloved Don Russell was so inspiring. There are so many things we don’t know about people we feel we know very well. Don has the respect of all of us. He is a gentleman and a gentle man. If you haven’t read the article, I have put it into the VNC history book.
My sources tell me this is not a good year for saskatoons. I don’t know what they are like at the Saskatoon Farm, but the U-Pick in Nanton is not having a good year.
We wish Marie Pippus all the best with her recent eye surgery. Very serious stuff… been there and done that.
The community garden is having a barbecue on Aug.19. I don’t know what time, but I’ll let you know next week. The gardens are looking their very best this year.
My daughter says my column is beginning to sound like an obituary column and that makes me very sad as, once again, we have lost a friend and neighbour in the passing of Chuck Opheim; our sincere condolences to his family.
