The Festival of the Arts exhibition and sale on Saturday had a lovely day for this event. Turner Valley Millennium Park was packed with people enjoying the various venues.

The Priddis Millarville Fair will be held on Aug. 18. This is truly a genuine country fair. I have had entries in this event on and off since 1959, so you know it is one of my favourites and I’m sure this year will be no different

VNC has a hose reel. Now you may think this is pretty trivial, but for the volunteers who are doing the watering this summer it is a godsend. I must say, I have never seen the flowers look better. We have a great group of gardeners this year; the hollyhocks Jean Feddersen planted in the courtyard are awesome. I hope you have voted for your choice in the Blooming Boxes contest. I love what Brenda and her ladies have done at the Turner Valley post office.

Gardeners at the community garden in Black Diamond are having a barbeque on Aug. 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and something for the pot luck and be sure to let them know how many will be attending. The email is [email protected]
