My neighbour has had flocks of hundreds of autumn starlings at her crabapple trees. These are the same “lovely” black birds that arrive in the spring and, in my never to be humble opinion, are the all time worst, useless birds.

A general fitness class is planned beginning in the new year. This will be a 12-week program on Tuesday mornings from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., starting with a free, get acquainted session on Jan. 8 and the cost is $20. I am told other groups are charging $7 a session, so we are getting a bargain. Fritz Peyerl (403-933-7304) is the co-ordinator and there is a sign up sheet is on the board.

The John McDermott concert trip is full. For those who signed up, please have your money in to Mary Ann Smith by Nov. 17. There is a cancellation list, in case someone is unable to go at the last minute.

The VNC garden club thoroughly enjoyed Evonne Smulders speaking on zero waste gardens at our last meeting. We will be doing something Christmassy at our December meeting. Sharon will let you all know when our plans are firmed up.

We are sorry to hear of Murray Cramer’s passing. We send our condolences to his family.
