There has been a cougar sighting close to the Turner Valley golf course and definitive tracks on Fromtenac Avenue. So be forewarned.

The garden club spent Tuesday afternoon at the library enjoying Marlis Haage’s slides and commentary. The next garden club meeting will be at VNC on March 14 at 1:30 p.m., we will have a round table discussion on starting seeds.

Our Sheep River Library is having a 30th anniversary essay contest. The topic is: “The Sheep River Library Rocks Because”. There are three categories: Child (under 13) maximum length 150 words;

Teen (13-17), maximum length 250 words; and Adult (18 and over), maximum length 350 words.

There are great prizes as well including a digital camera, iPod and Kobo e-reader.

All essays are due at the library by March 1 and the winners will be announced at the 30th anniversary celebration on March 23.

Our club will hold a euchre tournament to vie for the Gordon Richmond Memorial Trophy on Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26. It will be an aggregate three out of four week score. Registration fee is $10 and there is a sign up sheet on the board. Any VNC member is eligible to take part.
