A brother and sister team from the Foothills knows how to clean up. Kevin Thorn and Christie Hogan, who own KC Landscaping in Okotoks, received the gold award for best landscaper/lawn care in the Best of Foothills Readers’ Choice Awards this year. KC Landscaping has been in business for 20 years, offering yard maintenance, landscaping and snow removal throughout the Foothills. “I think we’ve always tried to be fair with people and we always have tried to do our best,” he said. “The number one thing is there is no job that we won’t say no to. We are very good about saying yes.” Kevin attributes the award to KC Landscaping staff doing a good job for a fair price. According to the siblings, customer service is key. “I would rate our customer service high,” he said. “I think that’s the number one thing. If we aren’t giving our customers what they need they’re always going to be looking somewhere else. “To me that’s a very high priority that we want to keep people happy. If there is a mistake or something extra that needs to be done we want to make sure that we’re always on top of that.” Being recognized by the community through the Readers’ Choice Awards is an honour, said Kevin. “It says, to me, that we’re doing a good job and people are happy with what we do,” he said. “I think that that’s a great thing because without the great customers that we’ve had for years we wouldn’t have that honour of winning that award.” With about 55 employees, KC Landscaping performs maintenance work year-round including grass cutting for the Town of Okotoks and several commercial and condo sites and, in the winter, snow removal. On the landscaping side, Kevin and his team do mostly commercial sites, work for developers and tackle the occasional residential property. “We do a lot of bigger jobs, bigger commercial and development stuff,” he said. “It entails anything from trees, shrubs, sod and retaining walls and there’s maintenance on top of that.”
