Healthcare in High River Just Got Better!

CGA Medical Imaging is proudly owned and operated in Canada, with a growing network of clinics throughout Alberta.

HIGH RIVER, AB — When it comes to your health, have you ever wondered why timely access to diagnostic imaging matters so much? The answer lies in early detection. Whether it’s identifying a condition before symptoms appear or guiding the right treatment path, having access to high-quality medical imaging close to home can make all the difference. That’s exactly what CGA Medical Imaging aims to provide with the opening of its new full-service radiology clinic in High River.

CGA Medical Imaging is proudly owned and operated in Canada, with a growing network of clinics throughout Alberta. The company believes that everyone, regardless of where they live, deserves access to cutting-edge imaging technology and expert care. That’s why CGA has consistently focused on bringing essential services to smaller communities, ensuring patients no longer have to travel long distances or face extended wait times to receive the care they need.

What services can patients expect at the new High River location? The clinic is fully equipped with brand-new, state-of-the-art technology and offers a range of services including mammography and breast ultrasound, general and MSK ultrasound, echocardiograms, x-ray, and steroid injection therapy, also known as Pain Therapy. Bone density testing will also be added soon. Most appointments, including screening mammograms, are available on a same-day or next-day basis, making access faster and more convenient than ever.

Many patients ask, “Why is breast screening so important?” The truth is, regular screening mammograms remain the most effective way to detect breast cancer early, before symptoms arise and when treatment is more likely to be successful. For women between the ages of 45 and 74, no referral is needed to book a mammogram, and CGA encourages patients to have one every two years or as recommended by their healthcare provider. Those aged 40 to 44 or over 75 are encouraged to speak with their provider about the benefits and risks of screening, as a referral is required in these cases.

Another common question is, “What if I have dense breast tissue?” Breast density refers to the amount of dense tissue compared to fatty tissue in the breast, and it's a perfectly normal finding. However, dense tissue appears white on a mammogram, the same colour as many types of cancer, making it harder to detect abnormalities. That’s why CGA incorporates ultrasound into its screening program when needed, especially for patients with dense breasts, to ensure a more complete and accurate evaluation.

One of the biggest benefits of having a permanent imaging clinic right in the community is consistency and accessibility. Unlike mobile units that only visit once or twice a year, CGA’s High River clinic offers year-round services. That means if you need follow-up imaging, there’s no need to wait months for a mobile unit to return, you can be seen quickly, and any concerns can be addressed without delay. This continuity of care helps support earlier diagnosis and more timely treatment, which can be critical to a patient’s health.

CGA Medical Imaging accepts requisitions from any healthcare provider and booking is simple: patients can call or text their requisition to 587-623-0900 or schedule online at cgami.ca.

With the opening of its new High River location, CGA Medical Imaging continues to fulfill its mission of making high-quality diagnostic services accessible to all Albertans. Because when it comes to your health, having local, reliable care isn’t just convenient - it’s essential.
