Scott Mortgages: It’s About Helping People Thrive

Sandi Scott has been a mortgage agent since 2007.

“I absolutely love what I do,” says Scott.

She became interested in the field when she interacted with mortgage agents when she was building a home. They chatted and the agents said they thought she would be a natural fit for the job. She filed that information away and kept on in her previous field. However, the subject came up organically with other people she met over the years. So, when her daughter was young and Scott decided not to return to administration work, she took the training and became licensed as a mortgage agent.

Today she operates from offices in Okotoks and Black Diamond.

“I have lived and worked in Okotoks and area for more than 20 years,” she smiles. "I loved raising my family here and still live here with my lovely Mum, who I take care of and my two amazing Labradoodles, Brooke and Whiskey. They really are the most adorable creatures!”

With her pups by her side as she does the work she loves, Scott shops the lending market on behalf of clients. While going to a bank only gives you one option, mortgage agents face no such constraints.  A mortgage agent can shop around to multiple sources; banks and mortgage companies to find the best rate and terms for their clients.  This means that Scott can provide more options and customized services to her clients.  She also prides herself in always giving service with a smile, and sometimes even lots of laughs!

Although, Scott says that First Time Buyers are one of her favourite clients, she also comments that “I truly love helping people refinance to get out of debt,” adding “In this economic climate that is very important.”

She continues, “I love being self employed, independent and being able to help people with their finances. As an agent, my motivation is finding the best rate and mortgage for my clients, along with providing them with exceptional customer service. To have people put their trust in me for their financial future and the biggest purchase of their life is something I take very seriously. I ensure my clients know all their options and explain things they may not know, and often things that a bank has never advised them of, like how payment frequency can accelerate the time in which it takes to pay your mortgage down.”  She adds “I am passionate about people paying less interest to the banks and keeping more money in their pockets!”

“I know from experience, women, and men, who come through a separation/divorce are often in a very different financial position than were part of a couple. Frequently, they don’t know where to start when trying to get back into a better financial position to re-enter the housing market again.  An experienced agent showing caring and empathy is very, very important. I find myself often receiving referrals from realtors/past clients who know their client/friend/family member needs a caring agent that understands what they are going through. That is the thing about this business. It’s not always about a family buying a home. There are many different aspects and different roles that an agent needs to take on.”

Scott loves giving back to her community. She sat on the Chamber board for four years, 2 on the Executive as Treasurer, supports Gems for Gems, has been part of the 100 Women Who Care Foothills organization since it’s inception, volunteers with the Baby It’s Cold Outside charity and is excited to be taking part in Enrich Mortgage Group’s upcoming new initiative where agents will donate a portion of their income to a worthy cause.  She has also been involved as a volunteer with the Priddis & Millarville Fair for about 15 years and loves that fun weekend in August, running the stage and all the activities that go with it!

For her many years of dedicated service, Scott is pleased to be recognized as being on Mortgage Alliance’s #1 team in Canada, Enrich Mortgage Group and in the top 10% of agents nationwide with Mortgage Alliance.  She is also very proud to have won a Gold Reader’s Choice Award (2022) in the finance/mortgage category.

“For the many years of support, I say a big thank you to my wonderful clients, amazing team at Enrich Mortgage Group, our fabulous Okotoks and area community and my family and friends,” Scott concludes. “The future will find me doing more of what I love – helping people and growing my business.”
