The highly anticipated Big Sky BBQ Fundraiser in support of the Alberta Summer Games is just around the corner

The fundraiser promises to be a great night out!

The Okotoks and Black Diamond Alberta Summer Games take place from July 20-23, 2023. Between now and then are several supporting events, such as the Big Sky BBQ fundraiser, which will be held on March 2nd. The fundraiser promises to be a great night out! The event will consist of a four course meal provided by Big Sky BBQ, and a silent auction. Additionally, guests will enjoy live music by The Back Forty! Get your ticket now to secure your spot!

Big Sky BBQ is the local joint in Okotoks providing an authentic, smoky, Texas-style BBQ experience. Smoking meat is their passion; everything is made fresh from 100% Alberta-grown meat. This restaurant is no stranger to catering large events. Thanks to years of experience and a remote trailer, they can feed parties up to 1,000 people. With a near-perfect rating across more than 2,000 Google reviews and 400 Facebook reviews, you know if it’s Big Sky, it is great BBQ! Guests of this event have plenty to look forward to when it comes to the meal.

During the event, Big Sky BBQ will also present grilling tips (BBQ 101 talk).

The silent auction has a variety of amazing items including:

  • A Big Sky BBQ meat package
  • A Calgary Flames Nazem Kadri signed jersey
  • Gift baskets of goodies put together by two local fitness gyms
  • Two pool party packages from the Town of Okotoks
  • Four tickets to a comedy show from the Rotary Performing Arts Centre
  • Two duffle bags from YMCA with hats, water bottles, coffee cups and five guest passes
  • A variety of golf passes to multiple courses in the area
  • And more!

Rounding out the evening is live music from The Back Forty. This group bills themselves as “regular working folk during the week,” but a “rocking top 40 country and classic rock cover band” during the weekends. Each band member loves to perform, giving their live shows an infectious energy that really gets the crowd going. For a taste of what’s in store, visit The Back Forty on Facebook and on Instagram.

There are other ways to enjoy and take part in the lead up to the Games. Lee Kennedy, Director of Promotions, notes, “The 2023 Alberta Summer Games will bring many visitors to our community, so we want to showcase it. We want our athletes to have a great time while they are here. Community support is needed in the way of volunteers to help the events run smoothly. We need help providing transportation, meals and accommodations for our athletes. Anyone who wants to help by volunteering or sponsoring can visit our website for more information.

The Okotoks and Black Diamond Alberta Summer Games is a wonderful event for the athletes and their families, but also for all the communities involved. Take the time to enjoy the events surrounding the games and provide your support. This event changes lives for the youth involved, and you can be a part of it.

Silent auction items are still being accepted and tickets are still available. Learn more and get tickets by clicking here.
