The Town of Black Diamond is looking for volunteers from the community to help finish the new mountain bike track.

Those who would like to help can meet at the Scott Seaman Sports Rink in Black Diamond on Saturday, Aug. 13, starting at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served, and to ensure there is enough food, volunteers are asked to register in advance on the Town’s website

The work involves pruning trees and bushes, hand-raking the track and hand-levelling areas that machinery could not reach.

The Town will have limited tools and supplies on hand, and people are encouraged to bring rakes and pruners if they have them.

The track is being built for mountain bike races during the 2023 Alberta Summer Games, but will be open to the public once it is finished.

The 2023 Alberta Summer Games are being co-hosted by Okotoks and Black Diamond and take place from July 20-23 next year.
