The Town of Diamond Valley is seeking public feedback as it develops its first-ever Municipal Development Plan.

The plan is intended to act as a roadmap to guide the community’s growth over the next two decades, directing development in a way that reflects the values and aspirations of Diamond Valley residents.

The Town has identified key policy areas within the draft document where public input would be most valued, including such topics as a strategy for downtown, housing, open space and environment, and land use/economic development.

These focus areas will form the basis for upcoming public consultation efforts, which include a World Café, drop-in open house and online survey.

The World Café, set for Tuesday, June 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Flare n’ Derrick Community Centre, is an interactive event designed for conversation where residents will have the opportunity to review and discuss key policy areas. Facilitators will explain how the different topics are addressed in the plan. Registration is required.

The drop-in open house, which takes place on Tuesday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flare n’ Derrick Community Centre, allows residents to review a series of information boards, speak to the project team and provide feedback on key policy areas within the plan.

An online survey will be open from June 10 to 20 to solicit feedback on the plan.

A Municipal Development Plan is a high-level policy document the Province of Alberta requires through the Municipal Government Act. The plan will help direct the location of different land uses in the community, including residential, commercial, industrial, parks and open spaces.
