Diamond Valley’s Fahr Brewing is debuting a special limited-edition beer — The Iron Lung Ale — as part of the Rotary International Convention in Calgary.
Fahr will be featured at the convention, which runs June 21–25, as the only local craft option at official Rotary events, highlighting Alberta’s vibrant craft beer scene on a global stage while drawing attention to Rotary’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.
More than 15,000 Rotary members and leaders from over 120 countries are gathering in Calgary for one of the city’s largest-ever conventions.
The Iron Lung Ale is a nod to Rotary’s legacy as a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, which has helped immunize nearly three billion children since 1985.
“We wanted to showcase the best of Alberta, both in spirit and in flavour,” said Mark Starratt, co-chair of the host organizing committee. “Fahr Brewing brings both community pride and international quality.”
Fahr Brewing, founded by German-born biomedical engineer Jochen Fahr, has earned a reputation for precision and tradition, following the German Purity Law to brew world-class, internationally award-winning beers with just four ingredients.
The brand’s selection for the convention highlights its growing stature and the city’s thriving craft scene.
As part of its partnership with the convention’s host organizing committee, Fahr will donate a portion of their proceeds to help support the committee’s Community Legacy Fund that will bring lasting benefit to southern Alberta long after the convention’s guests have returned home.
Initially, the Iron Lung Ale will be available exclusively at the Rotary International Convention, with plans to expand distribution after the event. Fahr’s core beers remain available at retailers, taprooms, and restaurants across Alberta.
“This isn’t just about pouring beer. It’s about building community,” said Jochen Fahr. “From sponsoring the Boys and Girls Club of the Foothills to supporting local events, Fahr believes in giving back.”
