Millarville 4-H members excel at public speaking

Millarville Mutts & Mustangs 4-H Club hosts Speech Day and Presentation Day.

The Millarville Mutts & Mustangs 4-H members challenged what is one of society’s most feared activities — public speaking — on a couple of recent occasions.

Feb. 10 was club level Speech Day and on Feb. 17 club level Presentation Day, where the members arrived prepared with interesting and informed topics.

The parents and volunteers did an amazing job creating an environment of support and community. A special thanks to the communications committee Nicole and Justin Baxter, Tammy and Haily Mazubert, and Jenn and Syd Dunne.

Sage Runge and Ella Hamilton performed their duties as emcees on Speech Day, with Joy Den Haan and Tait Ackermann emceeing on Presentation Day. Their introductions and jokes helped everything go smoothly, creating an easier environment for 4-H members to showcase their talents.

The judges provided helpful feedback and thoughtful comments to help members improve their skills for the future.

Congratulations to our speakers who will be moving on:

Juniors — Scout Dunn and Bianna Maull (Josey Rawson alternate)

Intermediates — Kenzie Blyth and Eva Driscoll (Milly Moldenhauer alternate)

Seniors — Isabella Styles and Hailey Mazubert (Jack Styles alternate)

Congratulations to our presenters who will be moving on:

Juniors — Addie Whaling

Intermediates — Anna-Marie and Russell Hodson, and Tori Ackermann (Justin Penner alternate)

Seniors — Cierra Hathaway/Lauren Kornelson and Bailee Smith (Jeremy and Oliver Hartmann alternate)

The club is looking forward to the Little Britches Parade on May 18 and to 4-H on Parade on May 30.
