Taste of Bragg Creek is back on Friday, April 26, marking the ninth year for what has become one of the signature events in the tourism calendar for the hamlet.

“Well, I'm biased, but to me it's one of the most well known events that happens in Bragg Creek,” said event organizer Jennifer Jurkowski.

Participants can park at the community centre, purchase tickets, pick up a map and then set out to visit local restaurants which will be doing tastings in store again this year.

The event offers first-time visitors to Bragg Creek the opportunity to sample many more restaurants than they normally would in one trip.

Many restaurants are also pairing up with liquor representatives, breweries and distilleries. Along the way, many local storefront boutiques will be showcasing their unique tastes of Bragg Creek.

“It's kind of growing," Jurkowski said. "We probably had around 750 people come last year and it was the first time we did this format and the weather wasn't the greatest... So I can only imagine if we get hopefully one of those really nice spring evenings.”

She said there will also be a travelling troop of impromptu line dancing instructors roaming around town on that day for those who feel so inclined.

Jurkowski said it also provides visitors with the opportunity to try out one of the many B&Bs in the area, and make a night of it.

“Our 2023 event was so successful, and people really enjoyed getting out and about and really seeing the local establishments and meeting the owners and locals that we wanted to do it (that way) again this year,” said founder Charlie Holschuh.

“Hundreds of people from Calgary, Cochrane and all over southern Alberta come out each year for the same reason: great food and drinks, friendly hospitality, good company and conversation, and to take in the beautiful spirit of Bragg Creek.”

This year the proceeds will be donated to Easter Seals Camp Horizon, which supports people through inclusivity and provides kids and adults with disabilities a chance to go to summer camp.

The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m., starting at the community centre on Whyte Avenue.
