Vendors who might be interested in renting space at a farmers’ market in the Foothills are being warned to stay alert.

The Millarville Racetrack & Agricultural Society (MRAS) said it was made aware of an online scam related to its Millarville Farmers’ Market.

In the scam, potential market vendors are contacted through social media and asked to pay for vendor space.

MRAS said in a notice on social media that vendor applications for the spring, summer and fall 2024 Millarville Farmers’ Markets are closed.

“We are not accepting any new vendors for these markets, nor are we actively searching for vendors for these markets,” MRAS said.

Anyone claiming to be a MRAS employee online or asking for money should be blocked, MRAS said.

Miilarville Farmers' Market vendors complete a thorough application process and anyone with suspicions, or who thinks they might have been scammed, can contact MRAS, the organization said.
