The RCMP are asking for the public to follow instructions from all first responders and staff of the resort, and to have patience while all efforts are made to to locate and rescue anyone in need.

Public safety specialists advice backcountry enthusiasts to stay out of avalanche terrain with the high hazard.

Anyone caught operating a drone within park boundaries and without an approved permit may result in law enforcement action and a fine of up to $25,000.

A vicious dog licence requires the dog be securely leashed in public to effectively prevent it from attacking or biting any person or other animal.

“The owner has fully complied with the requirements, including muzzling to ensure public and wildlife safety,” according to a Town of Banff statement.

“Importantly, FWES believes that the young cougars were not with their mother at the time the cougar was harvested,” read the statement from the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services

“It’s definitely startling … the dog was obviously harassing that deer big time."
