Those who have signed up for the birds of prey/Japanese gardens tour on May 23, should have their $40 in to Mary Anne by May 10, the bus will leave VNC at 8 a.m. and should be back around 6 p.m.

When do the words “I didn’t know that” become frightening? When it comes to matters that seriously affect our freedoms, rights and health. In other words, what we don’t know can hurt us — a lot.

At the 18th annual Leadership Awards dinner last week Marg Cox was honoured as the Rotary Integrity Award winner. She was chosen for her volunteer leadership and huge community support on a variety of causes and events.

How could I have been so wrong? I thought I would be fine being an empty-nester, to see the kids off on their next adventure, to have the remote control all to myself. I was wrong.

Am I really ready to be sent out to pasture at the ripe old age of 41? I find it amusing we describe professional athletes as being past their prime at 32 and down right ancient at 35.

For the first time ever our Junior B Bisons made it to the Western finals. Unfortunately they got off to a slow start and had to work hard to claw back into the bronze medal game. The good news is they won that game.

We had a very good turnout for the garden club meting on April 11. Bob Hovdebo, who was our guest speaker, shared his knowledge on growing potatoes. It is apparent there isn’t much he doesn’t know about the subject.

Nearly every day, I count my lucky stars my daughters are past the baby and toddler years. It’s not that I don’t like kids that age, it’s just they require so much work and attention.

My day job is sales. In that world most of my time is spent communicating about the products and services of the company I represent.
