The Clark Avenue stairs are closed after a water line break on Crescent Road East in Okotoks in January 2023. A break in the same area on Feb. 16, resulted in Okotoks Junior High being closed for the afternoon.

A broken water main in Okotoks gave students at a nearby school an early start on the long weekend on Friday.

The break affected Okotoks Junior High, and classes were cancelled at lunchtime on Feb. 16, Foothills School Division (FSD) said.

FSD said the school remained open so students could be picked up or take a bus home.

The Town said the water main break is on Crescent Avenue East and that it should be repaired by midnight.

Residents are asked to use caution as nearby pathways and the Clark Avenue stairs are icy due to the break.
