With bone-chilling temperatures on the way this week, local school divisions are reminding parents to keep an eye on bus schedules and make sure kids are dressed for the weather.

Foothills School Division and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools both say buses could be delayed or cancelled this week due to the incoming cold weather.

The school boards share information about cancellations or delays of 10 minutes or more on their websites.

CTR said notices can also be sent through the Stopfinder parent app and by text message, if time permits, while FSD has its own app available on its website.

If checking bus status online, refresh your browser regularly for up-to-date information, FSD said.

Parents are encouraged to have a back-up plan for children to get to and from school safely in the event of long delays or cancellations and to make sure riders are dressed for the weather.

The forecast overnight low on Wednesday is –27C and it is expected to dip to –37C overnight on Thursday.
