The Town of Okotoks is seeking submissions to add more public art to the town's landscape.

The Town of Okotoks is providing five unique opportunities for artists to enhance the visual appeal and cultural richness of the community.

The projects offer a chance for artists to leave a mark on Okotoks and contribute to the Town's thriving artistic scene.

Submissions are welcome from both local and Alberta artists who are passionate about creating art that resonates with the community.

The Town says that investment in public art supports the local economy and helps build healthy and thriving public spaces where creativity, art, design and culture flourish.

"This is an opportunity to showcase opportunity to enhance (or add to) Okotoks’ artistic spirit,” said culture and heritage team leader Allan Boss. “Through these projects, artists will help weave our Town's cultural tapestry, fostering a deeper connection between art and community. I can’t wait to see the results.”

The five distinct opportunities are:

• Stampede and Winter Holiday Window Murals | Municipal Centre

Call to artists for two window murals. The Town is seeking imaginative individuals or artist collectives with a flair for creating visually stunning and conceptually engaging Stampede/summer event and winter holiday-themed murals.

• 2024 Safe Pathways Murals | Nine Locations

Call to artists to design and paint murals and to help increase safety on Okotoks pathways.

• Indigenous Themed Mural | Arts & Learning Campus Plaza

An opportunity for an Indigenous artist(s) to enrich the plaza at the Okotoks Arts & Learning Campus with a mural that showcases respect for the land.

• Elevator Door Murals | Rotary Performing Arts Centre

Call to artists to design and paint elevator doors. The murals should be joyful, celebratory expressions that reflect performing arts activities.

• Beautiful Bins | Recreation Centre

Call to artists to design and paint garbage receptacles for the Okotoks Recreation Centre.
